Factorio city block size

Here are my brainstorm/plans for the "city block"

+1. I waited to do city blocks in space until finishing the tier-4 sciences. And definitely, I almost exclusively used 1-1 trains in space. A dedicated block just making space platform is very nice to have - 50k platform is more than enough for a new large orbital solar farm, or to jumpstart a new orbital base.Community-run subreddit for the game Factorio made by Wube Software. ... you have a "base" blueprint of uniform size so that you can segregate all of the sections of your base into cells or "city blocks." Materials are generally moved via train (with rails and stations included in the base blueprint), but really you can use anything.

Did you know?

Most City Block players seem to choose square groups of chunks but could be rectangular and there’s no reason to limit it to chunks; that’s just an easy size given the game’s grid view. Some players align block edges so they make 4-way train intersections; but those are problematic to signal and prevent deadlocks.Currently my goal is to get at least 5k green circuits processed per minute. You either have to make absolutely HUGE city blocks to get them to line up, or you have to have overlapping something. People seem to usually build the rail network aligned with the grid, and then build the roboport layout to fit that.I noticed that most of the standard blueprints and youtube videos involving a Grid or City Block make them 100x100. This is puzzling to me since 96x96 would make it exactly 3 chunks by 3 chunks and still leave a 2-block border outside of the power-pole square.Rail blocks go around the outside of your city blocks. You can fit the different rail blocks (eg straight, left turn, right turn, t junction) together to form a square around your green circuit city block. You can build your stations in the rail block and then belt materials one block, into/out of your production blocks. 3.My Pyanodon LTN cityblock base at 50 hours. Base. There's not really much to say about it, just wanted to share my progress after 50 hours on my Py with alien life world. It's the first time I can really say that I've ever made a decently sized base and it's definitely my first train base. The large mess off to the right is my starter base, it ...Typically a city block is expanded by one great bot network. Using bots to build everything from a distance. There's two huge drawbacks of city block bases: You are space constrained. Typically train networks are limited to 1-4-0 trains while on unconstrained bases 2-8-0 trains are very commonMost science blocks only require the above inputs. However, purple science also needs Lube, which I get from the space science block City block layout uses one train station per imported item, except one with coal and bricks (oil and water are piped-in) Per-machine modules are optimized first for throughput, and then for production and powerThe blocks idea looks really good, but I'd be more tempted by a train-based version with a grid of rails going around every block with a siding on every one of them. You throw a train down and have it go around and take all the needed resources to the right block. Or maybe a system like the bot bus? Like two trains going through intersection from opposite directions both get rerouted to left turns at exact same time, or approach it for left turn at exact same moment.. The throughput well below that of bog-standard 2-lane system is the issue.I usually will designate one product as the main product of a block, and if it backs up the whole block goes off-line, and any useful by-products will be stockpiled until the chests/tanks are full and then voided. That's with vanilla trains though; there might be better ways to handle it with LTN. Train > City blocks. The most efficient city block design I've used was brick wall design, solely using 3-way intersections. The network was designed for 1-4 trains but there also were 1-2 trains for high value materials. 4 tiles gap between rails as it can perfectly fit roboports and has the most compact intersectionsThe blocks idea looks really good, but I'd be more tempted by a train-based version with a grid of rails going around every block with a siding on every one of them. I've noticed that most people seem to rely on a 100x100 block template. This blueprint book was made to allow anyone to easily design city block megabases. It allows you to customize every segment and junction individually meaning you don't need to follow the convetional square grid. It supports trains up to size 8.I'm seeking feedback / advice / examples of city block designs, as I'm discovering that the four-large-poles-to-a-side block (90 tiles) that I've been using is way too small for my current project. I usually will designate one product as the main product of a block, and if it backs up the whole block goes off-line, and any useful by-products will be stockpiled until the chests/tanks are full and then voided. That's with vanilla trains though; there might be better ways to handle it with LTN. Train > City blocks.Chunk-aligned rails are easily alignable to the world center (0,0). In order to be chunk-aligned, everything must be in a multiple of 32 blocks, which may or may not always be the most convenient size. But with blueprint grids, you don't have to worry about this! You can place one block, blueprint it, and make a grid.its hard to equate a normal belt bus to a city block bus. in normal bus, the bus flows in 1 direction, but in city block your bus is basically the space between your blocks and can flow any which way. most city blocks use a train bus, but there has been some people that did a belt bus.Apr 26, 2021 · City Block Planning It’s never too early to start thinking about city blocks! One lesson we learned from last time is to make sure that roboports are aligned with the origin, so that rotating blueprints doesn’t cause issues. So ill just say that i usually go for 100*100. You'll likely have seen many blueprint using that size and it because you can perfectly cover it with 4 roboports for a convenient global logistic network. Depends how long of trains you want to run. Junctions for 4-10 are going to force you to quite large blocks.Gemmel. I’ve build a 10k railbase @ 60ups too, but mine did have cheaty mining. Most people building who use UPS as the most important metric do this by the way. It is something completely different then playing the base game. Nothing to do with playing factorio, but more of a optimizing challenge.

Reply. dayspringsilverback. • 1 yr. ago. The idea behind the city block methodology is to simplify expansion. Mature city block builds have distilled every component of the factory down into a city block. So if you need more power plunk …The trick with it is having it not become a giant traffic jam as the amount of production goes up. It helps if you can keep most deliveries fairly local. e.g. a ton of your green circuits go right into making red circuits, so if those production areas are far apart then it generates a lot more train traffic across the whole grid. 3.The point of city blocks is production modularity - you have a block that, for example, takes 130 Iron/sec and 160 Copper/sec in and puts 180 Circuits/sec out (that's my 180 Green block). You can throw that block down anywhere - geography be damned - and count on your rails to bring the inputs if you have sufficient supply, and thus provide the ...

I would like to walk around and sorta see how you did some of 11. Details. I fixed the electrical poles in Nilaus' amazing city blocks blueprints so the wires are more symmetrical and the poles face the correct ways! (Sometimes after placing they won't be the right way, but saving and loading will fix it). THIS IS NOT MY WORK.You need about 1/10th or maybe 1/5th that many. You need like 1/4 to 1/2 the green chip production you're doing, probably because you're wasting tons of chips in bots. City block may just not be a good idea here, at least not the way you're doing it. 150 trains is mind blowing - even for a city block, that's megabase scale. 11. Details. I fixed the electrical poles in Nilaus'Just make sure the distance between inter Just make sure the distance between intersections are large enough to accommodate a whole number of trains. I use 144 for better dividing than 150 (mainly for 8, 9, 12). I'm do K2SE and have chunk size blueprints for modular city blocks. Most of my blocks are 3x4 chunks, with a few 3x5 and a couple 4x5 or bigger.I know nilaus does with SE. In my K2+SE run I used 1-4 trains and a 128x128 city block grid, but switched to 1-2 for Norbit. I think 1-1 trains are great if you leave enough space to have multiple trains waiting (like 2 or 3) in order to keep up with throughput normal 1-4 trains give, or use train limits for 1-2 stations, so the waiting station becomes a usable stop (the latter is trickier to ... You'll usually use only one or two sizes so that you can easily add more when needed. Most city blocks produce a single item. For example iron gears, the next city block will use ... Maybe the solution is to switch to LTN, tIf you put rails inside the block you can have 9 blocks, the one in So in a T junction, the train passing will block one horizontal track only 50% of the times, the rest are just exits not hindering anything. For an x the train will block at least 2 other tracks every time it passes, and 3 50% of the time. There will be more blocking when the train reenters a horizontal track too, but overall it's less blocking.A kidney stone is a solid piece of material that forms in a kidney.
