Also, the port velocity on the 706/862 head is much better than the 799/243, which will help you with the small bore of the 5.3. The 706/862 respond very well to a light runner cleanup and a good multi angle valve cut.

LS3's flow more and will keep the port velocity up compared to the typical hogged to hell port jobs I've seen on factory cast heads. They are hollow stem stainless valves...the intake valves were kept hollow, the exhaust valves were filled with potassium/sodium to better absorb the more intense heat that valve is exposed to.
